BMT gets ready for dramatically better television

The switch to digital television (DTV) is coming, and through your generous support, BMT is getting ready for it.

By law, all U.S. commercial, full-power TV stations must switch their analog broadcasts to digital broadcast signals by Feb. 17, 2009. Although BMT is a noncommercial, low-power TV station, we've decided that in order to best serve our viewing area with the best TV signal possible and to stay competitive in offering Christ-centered, family-friendly, community-focused programming, BMT must go digital.

Currently, BMT is working feverishly to complete our Expansion Project and move to the SonBridge Community Center by this fall. Already, $250,000 of the entire $550,000 project is set aside for the transition to digital broadcast. And BMT is happy to report that all the money need for that part of the project has been raised.

The rest of the $300,000 will be used to purchase an automation system, which, in the simplest of terms, replaces volunteer labor and costly, repair-intensive videotape and DVD operations with computerized storage and playout of video material. These funds will also go to complete the remodeling of our new offices, editing suites and master control area that overall will make BMT a television ministry that can better serve our community.
